In the city of Florence there is an airport, the Amerigo Vespucci, run by the Airport Company of Florence (ADF) Spa located in the Florence - Peretola area.
It is a little airport but guarantees links to the principal Italian and European cities. The reference airline company is Meridiana, which has daily flights to the main cities of Sardinia, Sicily, and some European capitals including London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague and Madrid.
Other carriers such as Lufthansa, Alitalia, Air France, Brussels Airlines and Swiss Air, ensure national(Rome, Milan) and international flights.
The airport is virtually in town (Peretola is situated on northern city just before the Novoli quarter) and you can get the centre of Florence by taxi in about 15-20 minutes. The airport of Florence is well served by public transport departing and arriving at the train station of Santa Maria Novella.
